Set in the sunny foothills of Woodland Hills, this new three-story residence was designed to balance modern aesthetics, thermal performance, and seamless indoor-outdoor transitions. With California’s hot, dry summers and strict energy efficiency codes, the homeowner prioritized high-performance fenestration systems that would deliver clear views, thermal insulation, and durability — without compromising on style.

     

Challenge

1-Thermal Comfort & Energy Efficiency:

Woodland Hills can reach high summer temperatures. The homeowner needed window and door systems that reduce heat gain and improve HVAC efficiency — meeting California’s Title 24 energy standards.

2-Maximized Openings for Indoor-Outdoor Living:

The second-floor balcony and living areas required large-span openings with smooth operation and minimal framing to maintain unobstructed views.

3-Time- and Labor-Saving Installation:

The GC needed systems that arrived ready-to-install, minimizing on-site adjustments and reducing subcontractor labor hours.

4-Unified Design & Finish:

Consistent frame colors, hardware finishes, and installation detailing across sliding doors, entry doors, windows, and even the garage — all had to match the home’s modern black-on-black aesthetic.

To meet these needs, we supplied a full system of thermally broken aluminum windows and doors, including:

1-TB127SD.H Triple-Track Sliding & Pocket Doors – for second-floor balconies and open transitions

2-TB80 & TB76 Series Casement, Awning, and Fixed Windows – optimized for ventilation and natural light

3-Glass Aluminum Garage Door – matte black frame with frosted panels for curb appeal

All units feature:

6063-T5 aluminum profiles (1.8–2.2mm wall thickness)

6mm + 16Ar + 6mm tempered Low-E glass

Black premium hardware (Ximike, Claessen, Giesse)

Pre-installed nail fins with pre-drilled holes for fast mounting
