Project Overview
The Residence Inn Waxahachie, located at 275 Rae Blvd, Waxahachie, TX 75165, is a modern hotel that offers a comfortable stay for business travelers, tourists, and long-term guests. For this project, Topbright supplied 108 high-quality sliding windows, each specifically designed to meet the hotel's unique requirements for safety, energy efficiency, and weather resistance. These windows seamlessly blend advanced features with sleek aesthetics, making them the perfect choice for enhancing both the functionality and the exterior appearance of the hotel.
Challenges
1- Limited Opening Requirement:
A critical challenge for this project was the need to meet the 4-inch limited opening requirement for the windows. This was essential for ensuring the safety of hotel guests, especially in a commercial environment where security is a priority. At the same time, it was important to allow for proper ventilation and fresh air flow within the rooms to ensure guest comfort. Striking the right balance between these two factors was a key consideration in the design.
2- Weather Resistance and Waterproofing:
The Texas climate posed another significant challenge. With hot summers, heavy rainfall, and high humidity levels, it was crucial to install windows that could handle the tough weather conditions without compromising performance. The windows needed to provide superior waterproofing and air-tight seals to prevent water infiltration and maintain interior comfort, while also being able to withstand extreme weather fluctuations.
Solutions
Topbright overcame these challenges by providing a customized sliding window solution that addressed both the safety and environmental demands of the project:
Glass Configuration: The windows were designed with a 6mm Low E glass on the exterior, a 16A air cavity, and an interior layer of 6mm tempered glass. This double-glazed unit not only enhanced thermal insulation but also improved soundproofing, making the hotel more comfortable for guests. The Low E glass ensures energy efficiency by reflecting heat and reducing UV radiation, while the tempered glass adds strength and durability for enhanced safety.
Frame and Hardware: The window frames were made of 1.6mm thick aluminum alloy, utilizing the high-strength 6063-T5 aluminum profile, known for its resistance to corrosion and impact. The frames were designed with a Nail Fin installation system for easy and secure mounting, ideal for both new construction and renovations.
Safety and Ventilation Features: Each window was equipped with a 4-inch limited opening system, ensuring secure ventilation without compromising safety. The windows also featured high-strength stainless steel mesh screens (known as "toughened mesh"), providing added protection against insects while maintaining optimal airflow.
Weatherproofing and Energy Efficiency: To address the Texas climate, the windows were equipped with EPDM rubber seals for tight, waterproof sealing. The combination of double Low E glass and EPDM seals ensured the windows not only met local building codes but also offered superior weather resistance, helping to maintain a stable indoor temperature and improve overall energy efficiency.
With these custom solutions, Topbright delivered a window system that is durable, secure, and energy-efficient, perfectly suited for the challenges presented by both the local climate and the hotel’s specific needs.
